Mike Poli Surf Instructor

Mike Poli

Having grown up in Montauk amongst surfers and fishermen, Mike's skills in the water are second to none. His passion for teaching people of all ages and levels how to surf, and furthermore gain confidence in the ocean, are apparent as soon as you meet him. You’ll find Mike at the beach every morning, setting up our kid’s surf club or picking up trash along the shoreline while walking his beloved Australian Shepard - Ace. Through actions like this, and as a member of Surfrider, he is a known advocate for clean water initiatives and efforts which champion the preservation of our environment. We consistently look to this waterman for the best surf experiences. Mike is CPR and First-Aid certified.

“We have Mike to thank for our 7-year-old daughters' newfound obsession with surfing. He was recommended by friends who said he was the best thing ever, and I think that is an understatement. We call him Magic Mike for a reason! He has amazing charisma and a very easy rapport with children and adults. We all felt extremely comfortable and had no hesitation when they took off together Immediately into the surf. I mean, we had just met this guy, and here we are, letting him take our then six-year-old out into the ocean without hesitation! He was super safety conscious and very fun and patient. He was the highlight of the year for our daughter, and she can't wait until this coming summer to get back to it. He is kind, responsible, patient, encouraging, fun, safety-conscious, and just in general and all-around A+ human being. If you get the opportunity to surf with Magic Mike, jump on it!

— Andrea, parent of 7 year old
